Rear Stabilizing Jacks

To increase the stability of the trailer, we are mounting two tailer stabilizing jacks on the rear corners of the trailer. The jacks are not being mounted directly to the trailer frame, but to blocks the students have fashioned.

Mockup

We currently have the sides and floor clamped to the frame to get a general idea of how the finished product will work out. We used 3/4" plywood for the walls; the floor is constructed from 1x3 pine and 1/4" luan.

Project Background

The concept behind this project is to instruct students in the manufacturing process from the inception of the idea through to the completed product. The CAD students were introduced to the basic design of a non-traditional Tiny Travel Trailer, using this basic design the students developed their own design using AutoCad LT 2007 and Google SketchUp. The CAD and woodworking students have begun working on the construction of the trailer. Upon completion, the trailer will be raffled off, the monies raised from the raffle will be used to fund the project next year.

A special thanks is owed to Terry W. Kahle for providing the trailer at cost.
